View Full Version : need advice
local gun store has a m1a for sale made by federal ord price is 1300 is federal ord a well made rifle.rifle is in exel. cond.has pre ban bayonete lug and flash supresoner.does any one nowhow good the thse rifles are and is worth what he iaskin g forit
all depends on the serial number? early rifles were build with usgi parts, later ones on chinese parts. for that price you could get a used springfield m1a that has a life time warranty. fed ord went under in the early 90's. fatso rocky
ser. #is9279 is this early orlate
that is almost borderline. usgi will have stamped number on the bolt, trigger housing, barrel, op-rod. chinese will have nothing stamped on the barrel, bolt. the trigger housing and op-rod will have numbers engraved. 1300 is still on the high side even for a fed ord with usgi parts. fatso rocky
many thanks am going back on mon to check out parts. the m1a is new to me .have no knowledge on the rifle hope it works out for me thank you for your response.
For that money I think you can find a Springfield M1A. Some of the Fed. Ord. recievers are a little soft in places.
Think sentences and puctuation.
Only Springfield Armory Inc. makes M1A's. Anything else is a copy of a copy.
"...went under in the early 90's..." 1992. Bought out by Brickley Trading Co., who shut down in 1998.
Some FedOrd rifles used U.S. issue parts. some used Chinese parts. Either way, it's not an M1A.

Don't waste your money that way even with USGI parts they do not resell well. I was on the firing line one day and the shooter I was next to was shooting one and it would not stay in the 6 ring at 200. He asked me to take a look at it. I checked the sights to see if they were loose when I grabbed the flash suppressor I felt the barrel turn. The barrel was loose and I mean very loose. Very poor quality control.
Think sentences and puctuation. The bran wl pck u p the genrl messge and ovrid the misng parts. But still...
am goiing to pass on this rifle .great advice from members thank you all board members.
