Just wondering the significance, if any, of a winchester m1 garand, serial number in the 2.45M range, with a SA 5/44 barrel. The 2 in the serial number is slightly below the other numbers. The top of the 2 comes about halfway up the height of the 4. ??? Thanks for any help

Common on WRA's. Not as noticeable once they got to the win13's. They must have got it figured out by then. Aside from up/down misalignment they could also get the spacing messed up.

Thanks. Any chance this barrel is original to rifle even though it is not a win barrel? It is a CMP rifle

I would say there is zero chance the SA 55 barrel is original.

What would you expect from Winchester? That "matches" the rest of the gun.

I would be interested in this Winchester. Would you be interested in selling or trading?
