    Default 1911 .22 Conversion kit

Both Kimber & Ciener make converison kits. Any thoughts as to which is better?

    Thanks!

I don't know about the Kimber, but I would not buy the Ciener. Unless Ciener has done a 180, you will not get any support from them. They tell you to take it back to the dealer, it they talk to you at all.

WOW!!!! Ciener has their "own" anti-web site??!!?!??? They must have done MANY people wrong to earn that honor!

I don't know specifically about the Kimber conversion kit, but I am a big fan of Kimber in general... plus they DO have a customer service department that will talk to you!

Hopefully someone will chime in with actual knowledge of the kit...

My opinion of Ciener is from personal experience, and I am not the only one that has bitched about their lack of customer support.

Bide your time and get a Colt kit. I have had one for years and never a problem. I have it mounted in it's own frame so it sort of a cheap Ace.

    Default Well ....

I've owned maybe three colt conv. kits over the years. Thought they were neat , but after HO-HUM performance I always sold them off to fund something else. Two or three years ago I had money burning in my pocket and nothing at the show rang my bell. Guy had a 1950s ace with 6 mags for 1200 , after wheeling and dealing and trading , he felt he got about 1000 for it , I was out about 800. I thought it was going to be another short lived purchace , but boy , this thing is a tack driver. Groups right up there with my USA-HDs and Bs.
How's others experiances on these? Have you found the complete gun to be much better than kits in accuracy ?

The Ace was discontinued in 1941 with remaining parts assembled and sold in 1947. The Service Model Ace (with floating chamber) was discontinued in 1945, but production began again in 1977. What serial number range is your Ace?

    Default Hummm....

it's 19792. It does have a floating chamber. He said it was '50 production . I have not researched it because it is not a WW2 USGI like most of my guns , so I view it as a shooter.
