Default Some people still have big bucks to spend

Emailed the seller and it confirmed my suspicions. The receiver does not have its original oil case black / dark grey...its been reblued. SA did overhaul some krags, including repolishing and blueing the receivers. These guns just dont look right to me for some reason, even if SA did the work. The stock is the only real star of this rifle, and thats questionable, since bubba used a grease pencil to highlight the cartouches. The high condition of the stock makes me wonder if bubba reblued the receiver too. But at least I know what my 1897 one is worth now!

I've not seen a stock cut like that one behind the magazine gate before, could just be the angle though.

I think its just the angle. No way that bolt handle stayed mirror bright for the last 110 years. I think someone found a nice stock and put a rifle together on it.

Agreed, that is a LOT of money for that particular rifle! Looks great from a distance, but no way that is "untouched". Finger grooves are nice, but NOT crisp. Lots of wear on the cartouches, and, FWIW, did anyone note the upside-down P? Also, the screw heads are pretty ugly for THAT kind of money. Rifle is refinished and at least partly "assembled", I'd bet. That seller got REAL lucky, and the buyer will, IMHO, have to wait quite awhile to break even.
