Ithaca Trench?
Located an Ithaca 37 today with the serial number 61472. It has a long barrel that I believe to be non-military as I did not see a "P". The receiver is without any game scene and is marked with the flaming bomb and RLB. The buttstock had no checkering and was neatly inletted for a sling swivel, which was missing. I know that Canfield gives the cuttoff for WWII Ithacas at SN 61450, what do you guys think?

Scott, it's listed on the Ithaca shipping records as a trench gun (20 inch barrel with sling swivels and bayo adaptor). Unfortunately, the barrel has been changed.

Thanks Tom, I only looked at it briefly but I am going to make an offer (low) on it. Will advise.
-
If you are thinking about restoring it, that will be a difficult task. Original WW2 Ithaca bayonet adaptors are very difficult to find.
-
Tom,
I am with you when it comes to the chances of restoring this shotgun but maybe someone out there is holding the correct barrel and handguard. If I can get it cheap enough I will hold it until I can trade it for something that I want (MAYBE!) In any event, I might can grab it and prevent it from being modified any further. as it appears to be original finish.

TOM,
Would you happen to have a list of ITHACA Serial numbers and shipping dates for Ithaca trench WW2 trench and riot guns?
-
I have copies of the WW2 Military contract shipping records.
-
Tom, is there any way you can take a photo digital photo of them and email them to me? Bob
