Default 243 dies and 220 cases for 6mm Win Lee Navy rd?

I have 50 new 220 cases that a very nice gentleman sent me for nothing to use in the Winchester Lee Navy rifle I have. However the necks on the 220 are about 1/4" shorter then the 6mm Navy case which makes the case overall shorter that much. But I heard that they should work if you seat the bullet long.
I re-sized the neck using a .243 FL dia. and have some 100gr 243 jacketed bullets. Does anyone see any problems in shooting these bullets and using the 243 dies for neck sizing? Of course they will all be shot in the same rifle so I will be just neck sizing the cases every time. Ray

The .220 was developed from the 6mm Lee. 6mm Lee can be used to make .220 swift brass, but not the other way. You can't make a case 1/4" longer. The bullet would have to 'jump' that 1/4" before it reaches the rifling. Too much. Might work with a 115 grain DTAC or a 105 A-Max or a Lapua 105 Scenar bullet though.
Neck sizing with a .243 die won't matter.

Thanks for the reply sunray. My thoughts were the same as yours about the 220 cases being much shorter the the 6mm ones. However a number of fine folks, to include Gene Myszkowski, who wrote the great book on the Win Lee Navy rifle, said they use the 220 cases in their rifles. They load the bullet long and shoot light loads. Since my post here, I have shot the 220 cases in my rifle with no problem. You can now buy cases made from 25/06 reformed cases from Buffaloarms. They have a longer neck, Ray

"...from Buffaloarms..." Not exactly inexpensive are they?
