    Default Stock Screw Holes?

Have a stock I was cleaning up and noticed 2 holes in it near the butt. Have never seen this before. The stock has a 1/2" DAS and seriffed P in circle and is on a CMP SG Winchester, so not original.

They are almost precisely 1-1/2" apart, the photo with the tape measure is a bit distorted. Anyway, they seem too regular and lined up to be chance. In the wrong place for a cheekpad. Any thoughts?

Photos are poor, I dropped my beloved (and old) Sony Mavica the other day and it is Tango Uniform. Am using a CyberShot and have a lot to learn about it.

Thanks for looking and for any comments...

My guess is the stock had a metal plate that had a rack number on it .

beebz, now there is a possibility, altho' I was hoping it would be something much more exciting, lol. Also, I realized I reported the measurment of the spacing wrong...1-3/4" not 1-1/2". Maybe that's why when I build anything I often say: "I don't know what's wrong...I've cut this board 3 times and it's still too short!!"

Lack of any other holes also has me thinking 'id plate'.

"..."I'm tryin' ta think..." You want the .wav file for that? Oh and it's "but nothin' happens." snicker.
    Your pictures are dandy.
I'd bet it was a plate too. Kind of odd to have a rack number on the side though.

    Hi Sunray-
That's true, it would be hard to read a rack number in that location when they were in the rack.

Oh, I know where the .wav files are, but many thanks for the offer... guess I didn't listen too well, appreciate the correction and you may note I have already made the adjustment in my signature (grin). A group of us often cut classes at Loyola U in L.A. to watch the Stooges in 1971. We learned that Larry Fine had a stroke and was in a nursing home out in the San Fernando Valley. We figured out it was about an hour away and 3 of us went to visit him (Cutting even more classes....wonder why I didn't graduate?). Although he could not get out of bed, he was still sharp and very funny. We spent a very enjoyable hour with him, hoping Moe would show up!
