Anyone ever use a receiver wrench like this one?

I looking at buying this receiver wrench. I can get it pretty reasonable. It's a different design than I have ever seen before.

Anyone ever use one like this? Do they work well?

The top bar goes inside the receiver, just like a bolt. The bottom bar is the breaker bar and attaches at the rear of the top bar. So it's not like the normal wrench that attaches to the outside. This one does the work from the inside.

I've never used one like that, but Brownells has offered one for a long time. Their claim is that there is less chance of "twisting" a reciever. I never understood that claim, the old style wrench that surrounds the reciever front shouldn't cause any twist that I can imagine. The biggest advantage I can feature would be that one wrench can fit multiple reciever makes that have the same size bolt and bolt ways. The type wrench I have requires a different "head" for different rifles, but I can use it on an M1 which the one you are thinking about can not be used for.

doenst look very tough...hate to have one thats hard to get loose with that one... cheap isnt always good....:}

That type of wrench is used by most Benchrest shooters and other Competition shooters who frequently change barrels. There is another similar wrench that enters the port from the side rather than the rear. They are used with a barrel vise that is C-clamped to a bench.

If your barrel is not torqued on tight, it will work fine. They will not work on most factory installed barrels.

The wrench you showed definitely has it's uses! Just about the only way to do round receivers. Some of 'em have a spud that fits in through the ejection port to twist, but the double handle job SHOULD make it a bit easier to roll it on, as you can use both arms. On a really stiff barrel, when you just need a bit of a nudge, you can also put pressure on one arm, and give the other a rap with a hammer to move it in small increments.
That particular wrench has issues, though, that I can see. The welds on the arms would be the weakest part of this one, and having one let go could cause a bit of consternation!

I have one and it has its uses. it is fully supported through the action and works well for Mauser and Springfield and 1917 actions. if you examine it you shouls find a small Cherry logo stamped on it. HTH

Does it take tight barrels off?

Looks home made to me. Don't have any welding skills or knowledge, but those welds don't look right. Suspect that if you put the upper piece into a receiver and whack it, you'll twist the receiver.
