    Default Dedicated 22LR upper units

The Tactical Solutions version can now be had for $499 post paid and I wish I had waited a few months till this happened. Thats $100 under what I paid.

I submit: the competition in the AR 22LR arena is forcing some of the top end makers of options to lower prices. I think if you are in the hunt for a 22LR shooting AR , a bit of waiting will allow you a better menu of options and savings.

At my age: I just felt I could not wait but actually, thats a poor excuse.

    Default Tactical Solutions Upper

I have two of 'em now. One is the first out with the steel barrel and front sight, the second, the lightweight job with the float tube handguard and sleeved barrel with threaded muzzle.
Both now work great, though they took a bit of coaxing at first, and I needed to find the 'right' ammunition, but now they do not miss a beat, and if they 'miss', it's my fault, not the rifle's.
    Nice pieces.....

Default What coaxing did it take?

Darreld, What did you have to do to get your Tactical Solutions upper working properly? Was it just the ammo or did it take some break-in time?

I have a Bushmaster .22 upper and a friend has one from Model one sales. If I had to do it over I would get the Model one Sales upper. It's allows you to keep the regular trigger and the buffer spring does not have to be changed. HTH,JEFF

Took some break-in time. The steel-barreled A4-looking upper had the teething problems. What was happening is that the mainspring where it pushes against the block in the bolt body was slipping in between the shaft and the block. I trimmed and polished it per the nice man at TacSol, and the problem went away. The light-barrel, sleeved job hasn't missed a lick from the git-go.
TacSol has some ammo recommendations, and I respect that, though to be honest, I don't have a single loaded Remington rimfire round in the house. Best performance, as far as function goes, so far, has been WW Super X, but the Aguila I got from CMP shoots better on paper, and still functions with a high degree (two failures to feed in 200 rounds) of reliability.
I also lubed both these upper assemblies well with Tetra lube. Good stuff, with no complaints.
    Hope that helps.
