Thread: Likely caliber used on Osama?

  1. #1

Default Likely caliber used on Osama?

What would you think that the Seals used on Bin Laden? A .22?

Would it likely have been a scoped rifle? With a red dot type sight?

I am just wondering these things.

    I'd bet it was either a M-4 or a MP-5.
How come it is always too something... Too hot, too cold, too soon, too late, too much, too little, too deep, too shallow, but always "too" something.

A .22 would be for quiet and stealth. This was neither since it was a "Bullrush".

I would have to go with that answer, M-4 is more likely. Mp-5 is still perfectly plausible. I doubt they went in with anything exotic.

    I would go with 223 from a suppressed hk416, just a guess

They've got some nice .45's and some 9's and some 5.7x28's (wicked little rocket), but I'd guess ol' standby M4. They had to assume entry could provoke armed resistance and deploy accordingly.

And probably an Eotech holosight. That seemed to be the favorite back in '06, but they could have found a new favorite.

The .22 comment reminded me of a story in a book about Vietnam chopper pilots (non fiction) A pilot passes by a SOG guy and sees the butt of a Nylon 66 sticking out of the guys ruck and says" Aw man, I got one of those back home, can I see it?" The sog guy pulls out a sawed off rifle with a huge suppressor on it. The pilot says "What the heck do you use that for?" The SOG guy responds "That's for close in work......2.....maybe 3 yards"
