    Default Because......

The ones selling know they can get big bucks for them. They might need money more than a class III item right now.

The buyers have ALWAYS wanted them because the market is limited to what is available. NO new ones can be manufactured for the civilian market. ALL transferable (to civilians) MG's must be pre-1986.

It might be many of the older collectors are dying and the heirs want to cash in and grab to money.

But it takes quite a bit of time to get the paperwork squared away.

I recall a "buying frenzy" of Class 3 arms right around the time Turd Kennedy had that post-1986 clause added to the bill.
If wise buyers bought them as an investment, then retirement is near or here and it's getting time to liquidate the collection. Figure someone in their 40's would have had both the foresight and the money back then.
