The report of CD M1 Garands is very interesting. If anyone digs up the photo, I would be grateful for the info.

Festus, one of the containers marked with the CD Logo was opened, water doesn't look like Garands.

I have attached some old Civil Defense documents that show the distribution of 38 cal S&W revolvers victory model. One is the agreement signed by the organization accepting the weapons.

    civil defense,

I have a Smith & Wesson Victory model U.S. Navy contract revolver that is also Civil Defense marked. The U.S. Navy mark is on the left top-strap, and the Civil Defense mark is on the left side of the frame below the thumb release for the cylinder. My gun looks identical to the one on page 148 of Pate's WW II Handguns book.

It really made my day when I found the documents posted above. Thanks for sharing!!!!

If you have anymore info on the Civil Defense and Victory models, I sure would like to hear it. Thanks again

You might look for threads here on the US service pistol/1911 page on Victory model S&W's. If you can't find enough here, try on the:

    smith-wessonforum.com site ,

you'll have to register there like you did here, but just as nice as guys there. they have boards for all era S&W's, Roy Jinks (head S&W factory historian, ed & a whole slew of S&W experts hang out there.hope this helps.

Well, I will tell you what, I have many more of the inventory sheets. If you would like to share the serial number I can check the sheets for them. There are too many to post. The posted sheet is from one small town.

Is their anyway that I could get copies of the papers that pertain to the CD marked revolvers? I would be more than happy to compensate you for your trouble.
