    Default Good Weekend

Picked up 3 Arisakas this weekend at the Fort Worth show. Got a ROUGH type 99 missing allot of screws but otherwise complete. $200 but it came with a very nice bayonet.

Got a Very pretty Type I for $200. Came with a good solid useable original sling.

Got a good condition Type 99 with sling in same condition as the Type I also $200.

Then found a good condition sling in a BOX O SLINGS for $20.

Strange how things fall together. In 6yrs of collecting, I had only found 1 complete sling and it is a bit fragile. Then Saturday, I got 3 in an hour.

Also I picked up a good condition No1 Mk3 Enfield 1917 dated with very nice 1918 dated bayonet for $200.

I own firearms not to fight against my government, but to ensure I will not have to.

I've never has such luck. Have only had three slings in my life. First was almost worn in two at the reas sling swivel. Second was so stiff and hard I gave it away. Third I still have, its in very good condition. I took it off the rifle and put it in a safe place. You did good.

The slings were the best part, I just kept staring at them and then at the price and thinking "These can't really be here" I see decent slings at Tulsa every time, but they command about $125 premium on rifles that are already overpriced by about $150-$300 or more. I haven't touched the slings since I got home, I can't decide if I should remove them and stash them, or put them on a couple of my more rare rifles.

Maybe its because I never had any but I don't want slings on my rifles. Makes them harder to rack and harder to put in a safe.

Nope, they are actually a pain in the butt on display rifles. I think the slings are so uncommon, it almost looks odd to see one slinged anyways.
