    Default SRS Check Please !

Just purchased a model of 1873 trapdoor with mfg date of very late
    1883 or early 1884 (cartouch says 1883) per a book I have.

Serial number is 232703. Anything on SRS on this one? Also, any
comment on the mfg date welcome as well. It has the buffington rear
    sight.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks for the reply. I wish I had the SRS database on CD but as I understand it's no
longer available. If I'm wrong, somebody out there please let me know.

No, with the unfortunate death of Frank Mallory, the founder of SRS, the operation has taken on a whole new character, with which I neither agree nor can understand from a business standpoint. EVERYTHING now has a price tag, waits for letters can be lengthy, and the whole "spirit of collector camaraderie" which was so important to Frank, has been, IMHO, lost. The info which was SO helpful to all is now locked away.
I never believed there were SO many STUPID people in this country. Start working now to take the Senate in 2014.
