Talk about pandering to a 'special interest' group. So if you parse the weasel words, "arrested" does NOT mean "convicted". Since they haven't been "convicted", there will be no "immigration hold" placed on them. They can bail out or get an 'own recognizance' release with a PROMISE to appear in court later. Yeah. That will happen.
Local rag 2 days ago. ILLEGAL ALIEN arrested for DUI after pursuit that ended in crash. Seems he'd been "voluntarily" deported 12 times previously. He also had THREE prior arrests for DUI. No "conviction" of course, because he never appeared in court for trial.
Wonder if they'll release him again. After all, he's NEVER been "convicted" of a crime.
