The fence ... now that is one stupid, ignorant idea spawned by insipid idiots. Let's see, a wetback has walked 500 miles to get to the border, and he knows he has to cross the South Texas dry lands after he crosses the river to get to a place where he might be safe. Oh dash it all! There is a fence on the other side of the river! He turns and walks the 500 miles back home.

Someone please explain why a fence, which any animal I own has gotten through on numerous occasions and it is electrified, is going to stop anyone? Please, for the sake of our sanity, travel to South Texas out into the desert next to the river between Laredo and Brownsville (like the Old Mines Road), and look at the river and the surrounding territory for a day or two. You will quickly start laughing at the idea of a fence, as do the rest of us. Read my lips, IT IS A STUPID IDEA!!!

Talk about pandering to a 'special interest' group. So if you parse the weasel words, "arrested" does NOT mean "convicted". Since they haven't been "convicted", there will be no "immigration hold" placed on them. They can bail out or get an 'own recognizance' release with a PROMISE to appear in court later. Yeah. That will happen.

Local rag 2 days ago. ILLEGAL ALIEN arrested for DUI after pursuit that ended in crash. Seems he'd been "voluntarily" deported 12 times previously. He also had THREE prior arrests for DUI. No "conviction" of course, because he never appeared in court for trial.

Wonder if they'll release him again. After all, he's NEVER been "convicted" of a crime.

Obama did this by degree, which can be reversed by the next President.

In most states that'll get you prison time for that many arrests. In this state 3 times gets you jail time.Next time he may kill someone,if we're lucky he'll kill himself first.

But when anyone at the state level came up with a suggestion(when she was the gov.), it was, "nooo.. we're not doing that".
Janet never saw a restriction on immigration that she liked. She wrote letters to the Feds asking for reimbursement knowing it was never going to come. Now that she is a Fed I don't see her (using her clout) to shower the state with funds. Hell,we have started collecting funds for "the fence" on a local level. Probably more as a slap in the face to the fed as anything else.
It's probably enevitable, we will be "Northen Sonora" before long.

A5, I could argue AZ vrs. TX, but it's too late in the evening to get into it. Hate to say it, but you sound like Janet. Her call was, "if you build a ten foot fence, they'll build a ten foot ladder".
So, I guess we just give up, is that it? I know fences don't work, look at a couple of famous ones: The Great Wall, the Maginot line. Maybe fences are a "tool" that don't work, but instead of that how about our government taking some action to stem the onslaught of poor people from a poor coountry that are taxing our economy. Lord knows, we don't need any more laborers unless we are going to get down to building monoliths to the sun god or such. I see sales of lottery tickets are way up so maybe we're not to far from that.

Not quite, only real criminals who don't vote democRAT must go! On Drudge it states that this brainstorm came to obama after the Hispanic leaders mentioned that his votes were to be canceled. Imagine that!

Sorry to be the one to inform you but 99.99% of these wetbacks are NOT Rocket Scientists. They are mostly illiterate, uneducated, and untrained mud farmers who take off with only the shirts on their backs. They don't "plan ahead" and carry a 11 foot ladder with them to cross over a 10 foot fence. They don't carry GPS and Radar Range Finders with them to avoid the border patrol.

The fences that I have seen video of are very sturdy, have those angled barbed wire at the top. I know that I could not get over them. But above all, they are a symbol that the going will not be easy on them.

Sadly, they now have the idea that all they have to do is get here and Neapolotano and the Great Obummer will take care of them.

The fence won't work, when the border patrol is not allowed to do their job, or take any implied forced action against an illegal crossing over.

The only fence that works, is a fence with guard towers and machine guns.

I spent 25 years on the border, and I can assure you that you have no idea of what you are talking about. In 1995, the price for driving a van load of wets from Harlingen to Baton Rouge was $4,000 to the driver. There would normally be a caravan of vans leaving one after the other. There is huge money in smuggling wets, and no fence, no matter how high or wide, is going to make a dent in that business. The coyotes must read about that fence and laugh their a$$ off. Spend your money, and I mean a huge amount of money ($100+ per foot), and years down the road when it is obvious that the fence was an idiotic idea, you can say you added one more stupid debt for your grandchildren to pay. Hundreds of coyotes smuggle thousands of wets across that border every day, including Christmas (reduced IRS). There is only one way to stop them, and that is to quit giving them jobs - period, and that is the only way to stop them, and you won't stop all of them even then. Ever hear of tunnels?

I also have news for you as to who they are. They are school teachers, farmers, soldiers, and just about every other discipline you can think of. I had one who worked for me that had been on a Nicaraguan death squad by night, and a chemist by day. He and his family took off in the middle of the night in a car, drove until they had no more money to buy gas, sold the car, and jumped trains, trucks, wagons, and every conveyance there was to get to Texas. He can never go back. He and his entire family walked across South Texas in the heat of the summer to get to Kingsville, where he settled in Realitos. He is bright, articulate, and one of the best hands I had. He needed a tractor, so he bought one without an engine and installed a small car engine. It worked very well.

Sure, there are dummies and thieves crossing, but there is a huge cross section of society coming across. There is a gigantic network in place to convey them to other states where jobs await them, and they know they only have to get out of Texas to be safe. The hog farms around here (NC) are run by ex-wets, some with college degrees. One of our ex-governors had a wet for a maid. Smithfield has one ex-wet that runs their insemination program, which is a huge, complicated job, at which he excels.

Like I said, build your fence while the rest of the world laughs at you. You will waste a lot of time and money and accomplish absolutely nothing. One day after any section of that fence is finished, there will be a hundred ladders in place, all with Walmart stickers on them. Google Walmart's mega-farms and you will discover they are run by wets who live on the farms. Go to any meat packing plant and you will find wets, ditto any drilling rig in the US, as well as construction jobs. And you think a fence will slow them down? Absurd!
