    Default newbie question

    first post,long time browswer. just bought very nice 84 with great wood, bluing, markings all correct. 1 problem, barrel has ring right at forward barrel band, rifling is beautiful, except for the 800 lb gorrilla. safe to shoot cast boolits?................thanx for any help..........srk

    Safe to shoot? . . . . Yes!

    Accurate? . . . . MAYBE! (Probably not!)

    With the ring at the upper band, you have, what, maybe 6 inches to the muzzle? Not much left to "re-stabilize" the bullet. --Jim

    y'know, after you see how she shoots you might want to talk to Bobby Hoyt/Frieschutz Rifle shop. Just a gut feeling that I have but maybe he can help with the ring in the barrel.
