Default Carbine vs Rifle sights for the Model 1873?

I have two similar early Trapdoor rear sights. The standing leaf on one is graduated from 5 to 11 (hundred) yards while the leaf on the other goes from 6 to 12. Each sight is marked 1 2 3 4 on the side of the base.

Which models of the 1873 are these two sights proper for?

At first take, it would seem that someone has put a carbine leaf (6-12) into a rifle 1234 base on the second one. Your first example seems OK and would have been used on rifles and cadet rifles from 1874 until 1877. Carbine bases are 12345.
I never believed there were SO many STUPID people in this country. Start working now to take the Senate in 2014.
