    Default S&w k-22?

I met a guy who is trying to lighten his load, part of which is a K-22. He was half-serious about giving it away! I was thinking of getting it as a grouse gun ... what would be a reasonable amount to give him? I don't want to just take it. Maybe give him enough that it will make both of us happy. I haven't seen the gun, yet.

I don't know if this is what you're going to want to hear but here goes.

It depends on condition: Judging from what I've seen around here; if it's one of the old ones my guess would be $650.00 to $750.00 in good mechanical condition and some good honest use up to over $1,000.00 for excellent and a premium on top of those prices if he has the old blue box it came in and the brush and screwdriver.

If he isn't picky about the price you might offer $50.00 below the prices above for a very good one to $100.00 under for a real "purty" one.

If I found one for under $600.00 that had no rust, most of it's original finish and worked right I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I haven't found that yet .

These are very desirable revolvers and the folks that have them for the most part are not interested in selling which of course drives the price up even more.

Art, you have that right! If I found one I could afford I'd snap it up, and I only want a shooter not pristine collector one. Would have to be decent however! Especially the 4".

    Art, Dave,

Thanks for the response. I went baCK to the Brewery this evening hoping to meet the guy again. Monday is celtic music night, he's Irish. I go 'cause I like the music and have a thing for one of the musicians (she seems to have a thing for me too). He waS there and I had my checkbook with me.

I guess I misheard him. I was listening to a real snappy reel and half heard him talking t another guy about his K-22, how he liked the Ruger better..... and he needed to get rid of it. He already got rid of the K-22. What he needed to get rid of and what he's going to give me his old Schwinn Traveler, he bought with his paper route money, I said I'd fix it up and get it into the hands of someone who would appreciate it.

I offered to fix it up for him - the Traveler looks like a Continental but was fillet brazed out of chrome moly stel by the same to ladies who built the Paramounts. Definitely a classic. He said he's too old to ride and has 17 bikes already.

So I didn't get the K-22 but I heard a couple good stories and got a nice bicycle!

some of those old bicycles are worth a large chunk too, you might be able to trde it for something in the future.

    Gimp,

I'm aware that I made out and I'm counting my blessings. But how am I gonna bring down a grouse with a 30-pound bicycle?

Bought my K22 last year and it is in excellent condition with just a slight bit of muzzle wear. One year OLDER than I am! Shipped in 1936 acording to the factory recordsl
Now If only I was in the same condition as the gun!
