    Default M91/30 PU sniper help

Hello, I am contemplating a PU sniper over the internet and need some expertise. I have done some research and I am fairly confident that this is a genuine sniper. It is a rebuilt rifle judging from the markings. My main concern is the number on the side of the barrel, it has been peened out with asterisks. Is this common on rebuilds?, or is it an ex-sniper that has had a scope and mount added. I'm also wondering about the vintage of the scope, it doesn't appear to be dated in the photos. Thanks in advance.

I just discovered this site, so I have no idea if you already bought the rifle or not. The scope is genuine. It's common for many WW2 era PU scopes to lack any date. The rifle appears to be a genuine sniper and the asterisks were frequently used to obliterate old scope serials at refurbishment. The BC prefix is a known production block for 1943 Izhevsk(factory that made it). The mount is electropenciled for another rifle. I'm guessing the barrel has CAI ST. ALB. VT beneath the front sight. Century imported these in the late 1990's to early 2000's.
