Default "The Old Man" on PAWN STARS: 20 year U.S.N. Veteran

Richard Harrison, the old guy pawn shop owner on PAWN STARS is this month's US NAVAL INSTITUTE PROCEEDINGS celebrity veteran of naval service, writing his own story about how beneficial the Navy was for him. He joined in '58, and retired in '79. Says the USN taught him how to communicate with people from all walks of life, how to be well groomed, and the benefits of hard work. Served on destroyers and a fleet tug, and in data processing. Other Navy and Marine Corps vets who have been guest writers for this feature include Earnest Borgnine and the Marine who founded Fed Ex.

"Old man"? Hell, 1958 is the year I joined the Navy and I'm not old (Am I?)

He mentions his 20yrs repeatedly on the show but only when it is relevant to the task at hand. Such as when he and Rick argue over the age of a Navy uniform. I like the Old Man. He is quick when he deals on something and may set a low price but he will tell you it's low and why. He is just much more matter of fact than the others.

I enjoy the program, and from the start the old man has always been my favorite character. The others are just window dressing.
