Collectors and historians tend to have a different perspective in regard to firearms. I recall a WW2 vet telling us how he loved the M1 in close quarters. The question was put to him; The M1 rifle or the M1 carbine?
His strong reply (as though we were stupid) was, "The M1! There is only one M1! They never made a short M1! The M1..The Springfield rifle!!"
We then knew what he was talking about but goes to show how things can get lost through interpretation.
