    Default US M1917 Canadian marked

I bought a Model 1917 today because it's a nice rifle not because of any particular cartouche however, I'd like to ask a question: Did the Canadian's mark the metal anywhere? The stock is clearly marked with a red stripe and 30-06 along with RCAAC and a Canadian cartouche seen here before. Is there SRS research available on a M1917? If so, it is all Eddystone and the serial number is: 364958.
    Thanks.

My M1917 has a simple RCAF stamped in tiny letters on the buttstock. They were used for airfield defence. Peobably why they are found in very nice condition.

I have a Rem that had Canadian marks on the stock, and was supposedly sent to denmark, (bolt is numbered),

I have one Winchester rifle with a small C broad arrow on the receiver. I've also seen the same mark on the pommel of M1917 bayonets.

Here are some M1917's in use, probably around 1942-43, by the Canadian "Pacific Coast Militia Rangers" (PCMR) Taken on the Queen Charlotte Islands. I think lots of them were later replaced with Winchester 94 carbines.

They were all loggers, and that was TOUGH work in those days. The M17 was not that popular, from what I have been told by guys that were either in the PCMR, or the sons of PCMR members. Some liked it for its power when they were blasting sea lions, etc. but most guys preferred the Winchester 94. More practical for actual bush use. Of course, some guys got the ROSS... (ugh) They were universally hated by everyone I have known of that actually used them. Too long, heavy, etc. etc.
