Its amazing more people didn't die. Here is video shot at night with passengers still trying to get off the ship after it has already rolled over. Note the lifeboats that were not deployed.

The CaptaIN made it ashore in the first wave and left the crew to handle the abandon ship. Crew waited for orders that never came. The Italian CG ordered him back on ship to handle the situation and he refused. This is beyond crass, beyond POS, just incredible. Poseidon and Davy Jones should come to drag his wretched body and soul down to the coldest deep ... the crabs are waiting.

Controlled explosions to open up more of the hull to look for survivors yielded more dead bodies. So sad, so unfortunate, so preventable. You can bet all cruise ship captains and crews from all the cruise lines are being re-educated to avoid making similar mistakes.

The really sad thing is the relatives might just get only $75,000.00. Heard that the limit on unless they can prove deliberate misconduct.

I had assumed the job of captain of this ship and others like it is a plum assignment, reserved for the best and most experienced. So much for that theory.

I read an interesting story about the discussions about salvage.(an interest of mine) Although there is some chance they will right her, the greater probability is that they will break the ship into chunks and the 45,000 tons will become razor blades.
