New to me riot gun - Stevens 520-30

The buttplate is stamped "Waseca Herter's Minn."

Quite possibly a Herter's replacement wood set.

These shotguns did not have special markings added / stamped into the wood as other USGI arms did. Civilian wood and buttplate from that era would fit and be proper , though it would lack the proper serial number . Should not be too hard or expensive to find a set that would match your metal condition and improve it's look.

I have one which I purchased in Amityville NY when I realized it fit into a GI Issue Large Rucksack when broken down. Real craftsmanship too bad it isnt made today. Took me 9 years to find the correct heatshield for it that someone removed. My Forend is slick plain no grooves or checkering, same for the stock.
