One possibility to make those .410 rounds fire is the old rubber O ring trick Find one small enough to fit tightly around the case and shove it down to the base. That should position the shell against the bolt face.

I do that in mine and it works well.

I may be obsessing over nothing. I will fire some full loads and see how the brass/primers look.

Primers looked ok after firing this past weekend.

Note: use proper lighting when transferring commercial ammo to brass cases. Turned out I did not get all the powder out of the first set of 8 rounds. Apperently some of it caked and only came out after I had already loaded the rounds. Instead of guessing at how much powder to put back in each one I just fired those 8 with whatever powder made the transfer. I fired them into a huge trashbag full of old carpet padding from about 7yds. Atleast I got entertainment out of them as you could hear POP then a thud as the pellets hit the bag about a second later....LOL Second batch I tapped the cases with a knife and ensured all the powder was out. 3" mag with only about 80% of the shot transferred was more than adequate for blasting some squirrels nests in the yard. Mom is tired of them eating the wiring in her cars.

On a side note I used candle wax to seal the brass shells and hold the shot in place. I now have strawberry scented ammo...LOL

Have to laugh about the squirrels nest. Here we have pack rats. If the car stands for a long time they also eat the insulation on the wiring BUT the bad part is they protect their nests by dragging bits of Cholla cactus around the entrances! My brother once bough an old pickup with a bench seat. On lifting the seat, the entire area under it was filled with cactus bits.

The best part was when I had to splice her wiring harness because they ate through all the wires for her windshield wipers. It was pretty mundane until I found about a 7ft snake coiled up inside the wiper grate...LOL We have a video of me pulling the snake out and it just keeps coming and coming...LOL

    Guam,

Now that you're using all brass cases, try loading three .375 roundballs (same as used in 36 cal percussion revolvers) and see how they do at 50 yards.

Weak sauce, I got a couple thousand flechettes to get rid of......LOL I plan to try and see how many odd combinations of weird things I can shove in those cases. I'm also thinking of trying to find some hunter themed candle scents...LOL

I have some .40 cal (.395) round balls that I have been wanting to try. Any suggested powder charges to start out with?
