Default What are these parts for?

Found a pile of parts last night.

Complete lock assembly with mounting hardware marked Springfield 1853, a trigger guard, buttplate, front band, band spring, a middle band and a few other odds and ends.

Any idea what model of US musket they may be for based on the date on the lock?

    Thanks.

Lock assembly is from a 42 musket as it was the only type of weapon being made at Springfield in 1853. The rest would need to see pics to id.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I looked at the pictures of the M1842 musket posted a couple of threads down the page. Looks like we have a match for all the parts.

Holdover, I can take pictures and email them to someone to post but I can't post them myself.

Would you be interested in selling the parts? Could you email pictures to me, especially of the bands? PM is on the way.
