    Default Odd serial number

I have a Springfield Armory 03 that has an odd serial number. It's not the number it self that baffles me it's the way it was applied and it's size. it appears to me to have been stamped by hand and the numbers are only about an 1/8" high. Any help would be great.

Did you ask me about this on another forum? Sounds familiar. If so, it appeared that the serial numbers (original) had been ground down and new ones (totally different) had been applied. Pictures please!

The receiver might be from a Sedgley Cadet Rifle. Sedgley occasionally re-stamped serial numbers if the original serial number was polished too thin.

No, it wasn't me, but somewhere it seems to me I heard some excess receivers were made into sporters and sold. I have no idea if it's true or not, thought if it was somebody here would know, and maybe that's what this gentleman has.
