From a VFW post? is it listed under Fiction.....LOL
Sounds like a great idea for a book actually.
I own firearms not to fight against my government, but to ensure I will not have to.
During the four-year process of interviewing vets, I actually found one guy who liberated another from a POW Camp on 29 April 1945. Neither knew a thing about the other's part in the liberation until I got them together. There were more real heroes than I had anticipated too (no, not everyone is a hero - but I was able to review the discharge papers or DD-214's of most and its not fiction). It was great to do but I'm glad the project is completed and the royalties are going to a good cause.
One more thing about the hero part - the research helped us get the local Post Office named after one of our three-war vets who passed away. Naming a Post Office requires Federal legislation and the President's signature. He was awarded a Silver Star Medal in WW II and another in Korea - the real deal.

A Memorial Day interview about the book.
The cover.
Our book will be featured in the January 2013 issue of VFW MAGAZINE.
delayed until the March issue...
It was finally featured in the April 2013 issue of VFW Magazine (pages 48-49). It was a nice write up - appropriately, the only advertisements were firearms.
