Default Remington parkerized with beech handguard

Bought this one on Monday for $300. Remington 12-17 barrel with all metal smooth grey parkerized finish and beech upper handguard. No rebuild or P mark on the stock. Stock has a small repair to it. Is this possibly a Danish lend-lease? I would say a WW2 rebuild but without a stock arsenal mark I'm at a loss. Either way it has a nice bore, the price was right and I hope it shoots well.

Is there a serial number stamped on the bolt handle? What does the front sight look like> Is it a pin?

No serial number on the bolt handle just an R; I'm not sure what you mean by a pin with the front sight.

The pin and serial number on the bolt are found on the danish 1917's. The Danes changed the front sight on some of the rifles and used a roll pin.
You could look under the wood and see if there are any traces of red paint. My danish has some paint in the pores. For 300 bucks you stole it. Since you are an SMLE Man see if you can find a P-14. They shoot great.

thanks for the info about the way to ID a Danish rifle. Yep, I have a P14. Not too spectacular condition but has the stock disk and volley sights. An Eddystone with a very nice bore but stock damage from shipping loose on a pallet no doubt.

I have one of each, Winnie,Rem, and eddy P-14's. They all shoot great but the eddy is best. None of mine have a stock disk or volley sight You have a nice looking rifle.
