    Default Remington stock markings

    Has anyone ever seen these extra markings before? Does anyone have an idea of what they might mean?

    Pure speculation, but the R is Remington, N and * sub-inspectors marks

    "N" stands for New England Westinghouse. A subcontractor for Remington. Supposedly made after Armistice day. Possibly not original to the rifle. Ferris is not sure about this. Just a possibility.
