    Default Rock Island Auction Co.

They must be paying attention to what the collecting community would like to know about rifles offered for sale. Read the description of this rifle, it is far more detailed than descriptions I have read in the past.

P.S.- Nice looking rifle !! If I didn't already have one like it, I would probably be looking much closer at this one. I once bid on a RIA rifle in this condition. My $3500 bid got left behind in the dust and it went for over 6K.

    FWIW,

Yep. By far, that is the best and most thorough description I have read on the Rock Island Auction guns.

It could be that the descriptions are provided by the original owner/consignee.

No doubt you're right. Their recent listing of a carbine Sniperscope was full of errors that a quick look at Ruth would have prevented. The description merely paraphrased an accompanying magazine article from the late '40s (and we know what a great job the press always does on firearms subjects - then or now).
