    Question Butt stock markings

    Which side of the butt stock would one expect to find the military inspectors "Cartouche" on a WWII Winchester M97 trench gun ??

    New to "trench guns" and don't have any books on the subject yet.

    Thanks scosgt,

    Looked at one last night and the left side just seemed weird as I seem to remember that carbine stocks were marked on the right side. I guess I just assumed shotguns were marked in the same place.
