    Default Remington bolt ?

I bought a rem 03 A3 receiver from Aim. Doesn't look like it was a recovered drill receiver. I can't find any weld marks on it. It came with a bolt body that has REM862X on the handle root. I can't make out the last number. I seen R marked but not REM. anybody seen this?

That is from AIM surplus? Did you buy it recently? Thanks. I would love to pick one of those up.

Doug- Check JB's bolt chart on vishooters' site - http://www.vishooter.net/slc14_2008.html

I believe REM8620 is the steel lot #. Maybe the steel came from Remington?

The bolt was manufactured at Springfield Armory during late WWII, perhaps using steel left over from Remington's contract. The bolt has all features of the very last bolt production.

    Hope this helps.

The cuttoff area while it does not show the welds sure looks like it was reworked the lines are not those of a original. They may be iron plating over the stainless welds so a park will work.

I would send it back. The horrible grinding done above the cutoff makes it a reject in my mind.

nothing wrong with building a shooter from a recovered drill rifle,
the only issue i would have , is if the sold it as something that its not..
my favorite shooters are recovered drill rifles, couple of A3,s and a nice NM 1903.
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.
