Post Front Sight Carrier Finishes, M1917

The W front sight carrier I have is blued. I have one R sight carrier parked (WW II rebuild),
and two older R sight carriers. In all instances, the sight itself is blued dark, like the rifle
barrels were orginally. The blued sight stands out, even on the parked sight carrier.
Two of the older R carriers appear to have no finish, left in the white. The sight itself is dark
blue. Were all the old carriers blued, or did some stay in the white with the blued sight installed later? I couldn't find evidence of bluing in the old carriers, but it may have been
removed. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!!

i assume you ment front sight base, they were blued as the rifle was originally, and parked during rebuild, most barrels will still be blued under the sight base, Eddystone and Remingtons made after Sept 1918 may be parkerized finish.
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.
