How did the Republican Party do that?

They certainly never held a gun to my head and told me not to give money to Santorum, or not to vote for him in the primary.

Nightmare number one: BHO wins (odds: 50/50?)

Nightmare number two: BHO loses big, and petulantly goes wild as a lame duck, leaving a HUGE mess of executive orders, pardons, and appointments to undo wherever possible. (difficult to assign odds)

Nightmare number three: BHO loses a very close race, and simply refuses to leave office, citing "payback" for Gore (odds, 1 in 10? 20?)
I never believed there were SO many STUPID people in this country. Start working now to take the Senate in 2014.

OK, who's betting here? I mean real money.
Me? I don't know. I'd bet big, he gets reelected. Hey,they all do two terms.
Maybe next term there'll be a candidate we all can get behind. Jessus, unless the economy turns around and there are (electric)cars in every garage and two chickens in every pot.

It's in Romney's hands. If he comes out swinging (like Obama was just another Republican), makes fun of every stupid thing obama says (target rich environment), jokes about what the MSM says, and keep it up until they are scared to talk because someone will call them ignorant, then we will win. These tactics will accomplish two things, first he will have to disavow Obama's vision and firm up his own (ours), secondly it will give life to the campaign and convince the middle that he is a winner.

I think you are probably right. At this moment the Prez approval rating is below 50% in every single survey I have seen and has been consistently for a while. Rasmussen tracking polls, which are actually the best in the business other than the candidates internal polls, shows that about 40% of the public strongly disapproves of his (Obama's) performance and only about 25% approve and that has held steady for two years. This is winable as long as Mitt Romney remembers that "if you fight a skunk you stink even if you win." He can't be afraid of stinking some and too many repubs, especially John McCain have been in the past. I think if he goes after Obama the way he did Gingrich and Santorum he has an excellent chance to win if he runs a competent campaign at all.

He has a very competent campaign staff. I still think that in this particular race, It ain't over 'till it's over. Obama seems to be very consistantly standing on his own tallywhacker.

    'Course I could be wrong.
