    Default Glommed a MAS 45

I won two .22 military trainers today at an on-line auction, including this MAS 45

    Description advised:
French MAS Model 45 Bolt Action Rifle, #F28380, .22 cal., 24'' barrel, parkerized finish, European walnut stock, with MAS Banner on receiver ring. Condition is excellent showing little to no use. MAS marked bright buttplate. Action is crisp, bore is bright. One factory magazine included. Lightly import marked.

    Better pics when it arrives.

Correction; Stock is beech or other hard wood, certainly not walnut. Some very early ones were walnut and blued. A French made version of the German KKW with a magazine and new rear sight. Made after the French got the Oberndorf plant in their zone after the war. Imported by Navy Arms, back when. Sold for 35 bucks, with two extra mags. I had several of them, ordered for friends. Most were in condition as yours is, as new. Mine is F25715. Nice rifles

    Thanks, Dave and Joe.

I didn't think the stock looked like walnut. And I noticed a similarity to some of the .22 German rifles. Good to know the history on this one.

The prices on these things are all over the map. In the last 90 days, they have sold on Gun Broker for anywhere from $500 to $1000 dollars.

I got this one for considerably less

mine is the same color. Mine is un-fired. I bought several mags for mine just after I bought it 6 years ago.
Back then, they were $200 and up to $350. I paid $300 for mine. I bought it from a good friend that has since passed
away. Just haven't brought my self to shoot it. May never shoot this one and may find another to shoot. Have several
other German and U.S. trainers that I do shoot though.

The Enfield and MAS trainers finally arrived today and I snapped a few pics at my FFL's before they went into his safe for the obligatory 10 day "cooling off " period.

They are both in great shape...the MAS still has enough cosmoline in it to make the "unfired" plausible.

I got mine when I was 12-13 years old. Had been mowing yards all day with my dad and brother. Went by the gas station for fuel. The owner of the station was a friend of my dad and had a FFL (and sold guns right out of the station). I always loved being able to go by for a fill up and a gun!!! When I went in that day he had a large wood crate in the floor. When he opened it there were 6 of the MAS 45 rifles still packed in cosmoline along with 6 leather slings and 12 mags. Also in the crate was all the origional paperwork from the factory. Got my MAS 45 for $125. Always wished I had the money at the time for 2 or 3 of them. I have always liked the clever way the action and barrel are removed from the stock.
