Perhaps looking at the parts list can you be a little more specific?

Are you referring to the firing pin plunger spring (part #33)?

My bet is the recoil spring (37), plug (39) and bushing (2)! Point us in the right direction and you should have an answer.

That describes on of the toughest little parts to assemble in a 1911 series pistol. The depressor is used to ensure a tighter sear engagement and is no longer used.
To put your pistol together cut a "Q-tip" to the width of the sear and use a bit of grease to hold it and the disconnector in place after you place the small spring and install the depressor. Insert the sear, depressor and disconnector carefully ... as one unit using needle nose pliers or clamp. Then carefully place the series 80 trigger bar lever (hold it in place with some more grease.} What I do is this. From the right side I align the series 80 lever hole and the rt side sear hole with a small punch (a paper clip will do.) Once aligned hold it steady and install the sear pin from the left and start it in the sear and push toward the right until you feel pressure on the small punch on the right. Keep pushing and maintain the ternsion between the punches and with luck your bit of "Q-tip" will pop out. Then you can finish placing the pin and ask yourself when you plan to do this again?
Should have it done in a half a dozen tries.
