Thread: 1943 Colt barrel question

    Default 1943 Colt barrel question

Would a 1,113,000 range Colt possibly be original with a small G marked barrel or is that way too late? I know Clawson's book says it should be marked F. Just wondering if anyone has seen a G barrel that late. Thanks.

Way after the small G barrel was used. Before there was any information on which barrels were used in which serial number ranges, it was common to change out a bad barrel with a better barrel. Markings didn't mean a thing.

Thanks Johnny, that was what i figured too. Well, a buddy of mine needs a small G barrel, so I'll let him find a F and then swap!

Small G Colt barrell is much less common than F marked Colt barrell- just my 0.02
