You got to love any plane with so many guns up front it can cut a small ship in half.

WW2 Pacific theatre seemed to be a haven for "Hey y'all watch this" style rednecks.

I love the story of the first skip bombing test. They released the bomb then after a brief pause felt a heavy THUMP to the aircraft. Upon landing there was a bomb shaped dent under the rear fuselage. They decided they should try a different altitude next go around....LOL

Other gun heavy aircraft of note. The Mosquito with 4-.303 and 4-20mm in the nose. Or the TseTse with the 75mm autocannon. The A-26 with the same stack of .50s in the nose and a top turret which could be locked forward. The Germans gave it a good run with the BF-110 but improper tactics turned it into fighter bait.

I own firearms not to fight against my government, but to ensure I will not have to.

my dad told me that when the 75mm fired it would knock out the hydraulic system for the gun, guess that bug got worked out.

Even cooler than the pic, I just went out with one of the Airmen and watched him refuel this aircraft. Even got to touch it

when the first 75mm was used, the crew reported heavy flak each time they fired it. Being air force types rather than artillery men they thought you had to screw the fuze all the way down to make it work. So what was happening was the round detonated right after it left the muzzle!
