That too! The last transferable M14 I saw for sale was 20 years ago, and it had a $30,000 price tag! Heaven knows what the freight would be today!

fella offered an unfired H&R M14 several months ago on one of the auction sites, beginning price was $35,000, never heard what it went for, came out of the factory's collection when it was sold.....

Maybe so, but when I hear M1A I immediately think "commercial Springfield Armory Inc.". IIRC, 7.62's are also marked M14.

You've all missed the words "converted to semi-automatic" in the description. To me, that means it has had a lug in the past, now removed. Without better words/pics it's all spectulation.

Actually, I DID read the description, and since it's obvious that the seller doesn't know beans from Bosco about the firearm, and given the BATFE's legal position regarding "conversion" of full-auto firearms to anything but scrap, I dismissed that statement out-of-hand as irrelevant.

Hi John, I just got a brand new in the box full auto by SAI-M1A that was unfired. Doc bought it and it was $15,000.00 As for M14's, yep, been over twenty years since I saw one legit to sell. I know of several that went missing from different clubs around the country, and are still actively being pursued at this moment by the authorities. I sure feel sorry for anyone that gets mixed up in the wrong deal by not doing their homework. It will not be pretty, unless they like the way Billy Bob looks in a dress at the annual prison play they put on....heh heh.

I think even some polytechs were marked M14. And I think some of the new receiver comapanies are marking their's M14 as well.

There also was some TRW's national matches that were made as semi auto only that made it out into the public as well. But they are very, very hard to find.

One of them was actually confiscated by the ATF years ago, but the owner fought fought for it and won. He actually got his rifle back as the ATF had to admit it was manufactured as a semi only to begin with. And it had never been a machine gun, so the once a machine gun, always a machine gun law didn't apply. It was a case in Ohio and as far as I know he still owns it.

There are also some real M14's that were rewelds by HAHN and Pearl, who rewelded them back in the day and sold them legallly. They are legal to own today. Then there are ones who were rewelded by MKS that were all confiscated by the ATF, but some were never found.

And then there are just real M14's that leaked out from state organizations over the years.

It really could be a lot of options.
