    Default 577 Snider problem.

When my Snider arrived I couldn't wait to shoot it so I bought the pricey ammo. The rounds would not chamber fully, sticking out about 1/8". It turned out that these rifles often are short chambered. My fantasy is to trim the cases as is rather than pulling the bullets and powder, trimming and reloading. Maybe a Dremel tool is not the best idea so what other options?

I would blame the ammo rather than the rifle.

are you sure the chamber is clean,no carbon and a piece of old brass stuck in there. i would try a dentil pick to try to feel a ridge of crap that may be holding the case back.

It was first though that a bit of corrosion was the problem, but after a great deal of effort, there was no fault found. Researching on the Snider Forum uncovered that these rifles were commonly short chambered. I don't think that reaming the chamber is possible so I'm stuck with trimming the cases.

Yes, I cut one to prove that there was no chamber distortion and I will have to use them going forward. Just mad about those very expensive store bought rounds that I can't use.
