    Default 379419 carbine ?

LGS just recieved 379419.... I have very limited knowledge of the 45/70....The stock has been replaced...No cartouches, but it has the saddle ring...the reciever, trap door, and hammer has been refinished...The barrel has no finish remaining....The front sight appears to be installed backwards...The narrow part of the blade is facing the rear..The rear sight has a high hump .It does'nt feel right...$1200...Shyada's gun shop Lebanon Pa.

    Hi Blackhawk2...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Trapdoors!

If possible, how about posting some pictures? It might help some of the experienced members identify where problems may lie...

That one is a very close serial number to the one I posted pictures of a few weeks ago, 379912.

I'd like to see pictures if you are able to take any.

Cass, Yours looks a lot better than the one in the LGS...On 419 the wood is very light in color....The rear sight is a high hump that goes to 2000 yds....The front sight is very tall....Like Krag tall....I am not convinced that it is an orginial....Pa is the worlds capital in cut down mil surps of all types...This year alone I have picked up 5 each P-17 sporters....none that has the barrels cut.....I just need to find affordable wood....I will due my best to post pictures...I have never asked to take pictures there before....regards....

Don't worry about the pics, that sounds too complicated after thinking about it. It sounds like it has a few issues anyway. Its just interesting to see ones that were fairly close in production.
