    Default Happy M-1A shooter

I fired in TACPRO's 3 gun match today, and I can tell you, I did not win a dang thing. However, I am very pleased with my long range rifle stage. We fired from on top of two shipping containers at targets from 175 to 460 yards. I was the first shooter, including the RO's at their pre-match test run, to clean the targets and I got the bonus 460 yard target. I was using my original Devine M-1A and cheap BSA 3-9 scope on a Bassett mount. I held 5 feet over, with a 200 yard zero, got it! yay! Got handshakes from several of the RO's and a mention at the awards ceremony...
Later two of the Fort Worth PD SWATS duplicated my clean. Maybe others, but I am still happy!

Tacpro is off of IH-20 one hour west of Fort Worth, Texas... Exit is state highway 108, south, about 5 miles. Great facility and they allow you to move and shoot. By the way if you cruise the website they run one to two CMP Garand/vintage matches a year, plus esoteric stuff like SMG classes and 3-gun techniques... The new Tower facility is really a ship simulator for anti-piracy training.

Scores are up on the TACPRO SHOOTING CENTER website. Overall my results were not great, I came in 43rd of 79. However in my strong stages, I thought I did pretty well, in long range rifle I was 16th (it's not just marksmanship but speed of movement) of 79, and in pistol, I was 19th of 79. At 62 and 230 lb., I will take that!
Most of the men I am shooting against are very young and fit, many are vets and LE, most no older than 35-40. These kids about 20-25 run like jackrabbits.
