Highest serial number for 520-30 trench gun?
I recently was informed of what is alleged to be a 520-30 trench gun that I'm considering buying. I only have one dark pic from the seller at this point, but based on my phone conversation with him, it could be the real deal. Yes, yes, I will be careful and get more info before I drop money on it. The only issue I have is that the serial number is 70498 and I've read that they capped around 70,000. Is the 70,000 a hard and fast number or is it an estimate?

The highest 520 trench gun that I can recall being reported is 69985, and that was over twenty years ago. It might be real, but make sure it has the proper markings. Should have matching numbers on the barrel head and stock. And the bayonet adaptor should be "S" marked too. We may be able to better help you if you can get some photos of the gun and post them here.

I will try to get pictures, but the owner doesn't seem the tech savvy type. I do plan on having him verify that the at least the barrel matches, and hopefully the stock.
What section of the bayo lug is marked "S"? Does anyone have pics of that?

The late made 520 trench guns have an "S" mark on the left side of the bayonet adaptor.

Someone else bought it and so I won't be able to provide any additional info
I did find out that all the serial numbers (barrel, receiver, and stock) were matching.
