Default Price check on Eddy 1917 please...

Found a really nice parkerized finish eddystone 1917 @ a local gun store.

Barrel is marked 9-18 with a R above the date
    Front band is marked W
Stock is excellent original condition with sharp edges and has rebuild mark but no P proofs. Hand guard has something stamped on the top (small letters)
Barrel ME is .295 (less than 0 on my muzzle gauge and looks unfired.
    No import marks

Rifle generally looks to be unissued but I am sure it was just not used much.

What is the going rate for these is this condition?

A mixmaster-rebuild would probably be anywhere between $400-$600. They ask any higher, then ALL the parts should be of the same manufacturer. Just make sure it wasn't one of the VFW returns. After years of firing corrosive primered blanks, the barrels were toast.

Depends on location. The "midwest" is a big area. I know around here they want $1,000 for typical condition and dubious matching parts if any parts are matching. A sporter will cost you a minimum of $400. In South Dakota, Dan would probably be right on the money.

Hmmmm..........hadn't thought about "area", but it does factor greatly. I'm told that M1905 bayonets are 'a dime a dozen' up in the Wisconsin and Minnesota area. Yet in other locations, they can easily pop for $200 w/ WWII sheath, much more for the pre-WWI scabbard. And then you have the Trapdoor rifles. Now you'd think "Trapdoor" and "late 1800 Western development" and therefore "out west" they'd be cheap. Ha! Try to find one out here that's cheap!

Wonder if anyone can develop a computer program that would tell you where the 'cheapest price' could be found for US military arms and relics. You'd scroll over a map of the US and depending on where your cursor landed, a window would pop up saying "Best prices for ______." Heck, I might even be tempted to spend some bucks on a program like that.
