Thread: 1911 book

    Default 1911 book

With Charles Clawsons books disappearing fast and costing a fortune if you can find them ------- I recently found "US Military Automatic Pistols 1920 - 1945" by Edward Scott Meadows on the Scott-Duff website at exactly half the price Amazon is charging! Really nice, hard cover book still available. Anyone have any other recommendations regarding 1911 pistol books that do not require a second mortgage to purchase?

Scott Meadows "U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1894 - 1920" is a very good book on the Model 1911. It give the history of the development of what eventually became the Model 1911 as well as the competitors.

The book is out of print, but it occasionally comes up for sale.

I don't have any photographs in the 1894 - 1920 book, but do have some photos in the 1920 - 1945 book. I received pre-publication copies of both books for my input, and on the second book did send quite a few photographs. I didn't take any special pains with the photographs, as I had no idea they would be published. I wish I had know they were going to be used, and I would have taken more care in making them.
