You need to get a copy of "Winchester Lever Legacy," by Clyde "Snooky" Willamson, a huge hard bound book devoted to reloading data for every centerfire cartridge of every Winchester lever rifle ever made................

I paid $75.00 for ours years ago, it lists smokeless powder loads that Snooky & friends developed in their own rifles & reloading hints for each...............hell he even used a Win 86 Extra Deluxe takedown rifle n .50-110 (.50 Win express) for loads for that cartidge... he hunted with all of them too...........

The ring started with muzzle loading carbines and a horseback sling. Proved to be convenient once surplused off so it morphed into a simple ring w/o the bar.

various muzzle loading percussion carbines had it around/before the Civil War, The earliest trapdoor carbines had it too.

Default Winchester 1873 special barrel length

My father bought this 1873 in 1936 at a pawn shop near Ft Sheridan, cost was $5.00. I have a Winchester Factory letter that confirms the plain trigger and 30 inch barrel in 38-40 cal, rifle was made in 1891. Target was shot at 100 yds some years agoAttachment 16468Attachment 16469Attachment 16470

What would the correct sight picture be on a buckhorn rear sight?
