Very nice do you have a picture of the hammer and bolt carrier. Does it have a Chrome bolt? I have heard that Colt had a recall on the SP1 rifles below 10,000 s/n to replace the hammer bolt carrier. I think it was because if you remove the sear they will fire full-auto! I have a 9XXX SP1 that has the round top hammer and the bolt carrier is an M16 with the rear area machined away as you can see a slight raised area where the metal was removed.

I don't believe Colt had a recall, all the three, four and five digit Colt SP1 rifles that I have seen, were semi auto only - and I have never heard of owners being contacted by Colt nor was anything even published in the American Rifleman. The three digit Colt in the post above is semi auto only and doubt it has been fired since leaving the factory.

As I stated I heard this. At some point Colt made changes to the Hammer & Bolt carrier to prevent the rifle from slam firing if the sear failed or was not installed or was damaged and failed to function as it was intended.
Semi auto unless the sear fails to function!
