I can almost side with him on this one as you could say Polish indicating a location for something, (like a plane crash) regarding something from another country. "The Polish crash in 1989 was the worst ever for Air Bermuda" However, this is the sort of thing that if you run through the speech even once beforehand, you should be able to see how it would be taken the wrong way. What worries me is that with politicians it is very likely no one knew who put the camps there....

If he had studied the matter himself or at least received a proper briefing he'd have known that the extermination camps were located IN Poland but they were RUN by the SS-a Nazi Party organization.
The Dems screwed the pooch back when Carter's translator said how Carter lusted for the Polish people, instead of relaying how much he loved the Poles. After that snafu you would think they'd pay careful attention to speeches in, or about Poland
